The day when we see the age of electric cars dawning is not far, apparently. With today’s society becoming more conscious about their finances as well as their roles in preserving the environment, electric cars are definitely the way to go. Gasoline is no longer practical for today’s society as it is very expensive; it continues to rise in prices while the economy could not recover sufficiently to buffer itself against the humungous costs in oil and fossil fuels. With electric cars, people can kiss their gasoline-related financial problems goodbye and be able to make the most out of their hard-earned cash.

What’s the big deal behind electric cars? It’s the fact that they totally reject the use of gasoline as a form of energy or fuel. Instead, the car derives its power from a set of rechargeable batteries that power up a motor. With the total absence of gasoline in the system, the car does not emit those harmful fumes like carbon monoxide which are sources of air pollution and the ailments related to it. Plus, electric motors run in near-silence so you don’t disturb your neighbors as well as ensure a smooth and comfortable ride for your passengers.

How to Make an Electric Car

First off, in order to enjoy the benefits of an electric car, you would need to convert your existing car. There are two ways of doing this and one of these is to hire professionals. For the budget-constrained, however, this is not an option and the best they have is to perform their own conversions. To do that, they would need to buy some electric car conversion parts. Now, what parts exactly do they need to purchase for this project?

First is the electric car motor. Motors come in two types: AC-powered and DC-powered. The DC-powered motor is the cheaper of the two, which makes it the most preferred motor for the cash-strapped individual. The DC motor is also very easy to set up, but it suffers from a heating problem which greatly limits the range or distance that it can be used. On the other hand, the more expensive AC motor does not have that limitation. Plus it also has a regenerative breaking feature that maximizes the amount of time your batteries stay on-line.

Batteries are another consideration when choosing Electric Car Conversion Parts. You can choose from lead-acid, nickel-cadmium and gel-cell batteries, among others.
